A worrying trend: Number of FTE obstetricians & gynaecologists working as clinical academics has declined between 2005 & 2023. <2% of UK nursing & midwifery workforce engaged in research in 2022. Who will research to improve care? sands.org.uk/sites/default/f… sands.org.uk/sites/default/f…

⚕️Hugely important study from Linda Kujanpää et al. showing how critical it is that we all work to mitigate the long term impact of PCOS. And we need compassionate support to self-manage - however and whenever PCOS affects us. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) presents as a multimorbid condition by age 50—birth cohort linkage to national register data. “Women with PCOS are burdened with multimorbidity and higher medication use, independent of BMI and other confounders. Accordingly, preventive strategies are needed to alleviate the disease burden and improve the health outcomes of women with PCOS.” academic.oup.com/ejendo/arti…

Intresting short article in @NatureMedicine discussing the decline in clinical academics in the UK and US. Another issue, not discussed, is the failure to recognise all the components of the job equally, clinical/research/teaching. The interests of Universities and the NHS are not the same and clinical academics suffer as a result. @StephenORahilly

🚨The Government's review into miscarriage care has just been published - and it includes an end to the immoral three miscarriage rule. This is a huge win. I want to thank everyone who shared their experience & joined the campaign. Without you, this wouldn't have been possible.
