For 482 days in Hamas captivity in Gaza, Israeli hostage Arbel Yahoud endured unimaginable suffering. According to her account, she faced repeated sexual abuse, starvation, and severe physical injuries, including broken ribs.
At her darkest moments, she says she attempted to take her own life three times.
“I tried to end it three times. I felt like I couldn’t go on. There were moments when I thought that was the only way out.”
Yet despite 482 days of captivity, she refused to let her spirit be broken.
After returning home, her first thought - When I will be able to service my nation. She reportedly asked how long it would take before she could fight again for her country.
“I want to fight for Israel. I want to repay my debt to Israel.”
Her resilience, courage, and determination in the face of unimaginable hardship have made her story an inspiration to many around the world.
