So the Lord's pitch has now disintegrated to the point it is no longer fit to play test match cricket. We hear a lot about the decline and collapse of western civilisation. Surely this is the tipping point. Our generation's Fall of Khartoum.

The Champions League was created so that the same teams (Real Madrid Barcelona Bayern etc.) could stay at the top for 30 years and more Because of that, there are fully grown adults who can’t understand that Vojvodina and Dukla Prague were once amongst the best teams in Europe
Beating such footballing heavyweights as Vojvodina and Dukla Prague 💀😂

Is there a way broadcasters could introduce a Red Button "Retro Option" of World Cup coverage going forward. Slightly dodgy picture. Commentary that sounds a bit underwater. It's a big part of what used to make these major tournaments seem so special.
ITV World Cup….LIVE June 1978 5:30-7:45pm Group 1 Bernard Lacombe scores after 31 seconds for France against Italy in Mar Del Plata. The now 6th fastest World Cup goal of all time. Commentator Gerry Harrison #France #WorldCup

Good piece! Re portraying the Soviet Union as "the aggressor" - if anything I think conventional history tends to downplay the extent to which the USSR was the co-aggressor early in WWII (the invasion of Poland). How many people know about the joint German-Soviet victory parade?

We are all Hearts fans today. Everyone passionate about sport, who believes in winning on merit without cheating, will be hoping today that the cheaters don’t prevail. Either way, Hearts are the true champions. The world knows it.

"Beauty is an ultimate value—something that we pursue for its own sake, and for the pursuit of which no further reason need be given. Beauty should therefore be compared to truth and goodness, one member of a trio of ultimate values which justify our rational inclinations."
