The Spurs know how to TAKE the lead, they just don't know how to HOLD the lead. And that's really the most important part of the lead: the holding

Both the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup have exceeded expectations. This has been sport at an utterly insane level of competition and energy. So sad these series will be over so soon.

Here’s your monthly reminder that you shouldn’t be prompting coding agents anymore. It’s June. You should be looking at the unfurled leaves of trees shaking gently in the summer breeze, eating buckets of cherries, and reading a big fat history book you won’t finish.

I was just talking to an engineer about the importance of managers being willing to disagree and commit to a technical solution their tech lead feels strongly about. Even if the manager is being pulled more to another solution. There are usually several ways to implement a solution. Some solutions are measurably better than others, while others come down to personal preference. Occasionally my tech lead is pulled to one solution and I’m pulled towards another. As their manager, I could force them to do it my way but that erodes trust and takes away the engineer’s autonomy. So if I can’t pinpoint a meaningful reason to do it my way, I disagree and commit with my engineer. They’re closer to the code than us managers and if I’m honest, they usually know best. Especially in my case where my engineers are very senior.
Jeff Bezos reveals the simple phrase that saved him countless arguments running Amazon "Disagree and commit is a really important principle that saves a lot of arguing" "One of my direct reports would want to do something. I'd think it was a bad idea. We'd go back and forth and I'd often say, you know what, I don't think you're right, but I'm going to gamble with you" "You're closer to the ground truth than I am. I've known you for 20 years, you have great judgment" "At least then you've made a decision and I'm agreeing to commit to that decision. I'm not going to be second guessing it, sniping at it, or saying I told you so" "I'm going to try actively to help make sure it works. That's a really important teammate behavior"

I led AI enablement for a 3500-person engineering org. I transformed our interview process to hire AI-native talent. I build agents every day as part of my new role at the Agentic AI Foundation. Come hang out with me tomorrow as I share what I've learned.

This is crazy. The hacker installed a dead-man's switch that will wipe your computer if you revoke the GitHub token they stole from you. Revoking the token is what triggers the wipe.
SECURITY ADVISORY — TanStack npm packages A supply-chain compromise affecting 42 @tanstack/* packages (84 versions total) was published to npm earlier today at approximately 19:20 and 19:26 UTC. Two malicious versions per package. Status: ACTIVE — packages are deprecated, npm security engaged, publish path being shut down. Severity: HIGH — payload exfiltrates AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and Vault credentials, GitHub tokens, .npmrc contents, and SSH keys. If you installed any @tanstack/* package between 19:20 and 19:30 UTC today, treat the host as potentially compromised: • Rotate cloud, GitHub, and SSH credentials immediately • Audit cloud audit logs for the last several hours • Pin to a prior known-good version and reinstall from a clean lockfile Detection — the malicious manifest contains: "optionalDependencies": { "@tanstack/setup": "github:tanstack/router#79ac49ee..." } Any version with this entry is compromised. The payload is delivered via a git-resolved optionalDependency whose prepare script runs router_init.js (~2.3 MB, smuggled into each tarball at the package root). Unpublish is blocked by npm policy for most affected packages due to existing third-party dependents. All 84 versions are being deprecated with a SECURITY warning, and npm security has been engaged to pull tarballs at the registry level. Full technical breakdown, complete package and version list, and rolling status updates: github.com/TanStack/router/i… Credit to the security researcher for responsible disclosure.

Really proud to show off the 3D dungeon game I built for @OpenAI using Codex, GPT 5.5 (and 5.4) and new plugins/skills I worked on. This game was created in about 2 work days, including art and audio, etc. This doesn't even show all of the dev tools that are built in.
GPT-5.5 is here - two demos I wanted to share and are featured in the launch post. One is a playable 3D dungeon arena prototype built with Codex and GPT models — from game architecture and combat systems to HUD feedback, environment textures, and character dialogue. The other is an interactive visualization of live USGS earthquake data, combining a global map, timeline, and depth profile to explore recent seismic activity. Fun launch, checkout out more in our official blog ➙

Finally watched Knight of the seven Kingdoms on the flight to SF, and wow! It has such Mandalorian vibes. After decades of epics and blockbusters, I’m so here for grounded shows with realistic, humble stakes with great actors giving great performances. More please!

I tried to tune into a @Twitch stream today. After seven pre-roll ads, I gave up and did something else. Absolutely unusable platform. Sad to see how far it’s fallen.

It’s a very real possibility that it ultimately ends up cheaper for humans to code it one tokens are no longer subsidized. However, it will never be FASTER for humans to code it. AI will always likely be a “pay to accelerate” tech. Overnight shipping for features.
It would be hilarious if we go through this whole AI thing just to find out that it’s ultimately cheaper to pay humans to do it

I honestly feel like tracking token spend can be a valid signal... at the organization level. Any attempt to drill down on the metric creates an "observer effect," which will distort the behaviors of your staff in undesirable ways. Resist the urge to drill down, even if you can.
Today, I got messages from 3 different devs at 3 different large tech companies (1,000 devs each). "tokenmaxxing" is happening inside all of them. Why? Because all of them measure either token usage, or surface metrics like DX's TrueThroughput that reward complex code!

Alright 12WY crew, the kickoff Space was incredible. Let's move from "Vibes" to "Value." 🎯 Your homework is due TO YOURSELF by our next space on Friday. Drop your plan in the replies or start a fresh post so we can hype you up. Here is the blueprint we discussed: 1️⃣ The Vision: Write out your BIG overarching vision AND your 3-year vision. Where do you want to see your life? What do you want to have,do,be,and feel? 2️⃣ The Audit: Rate yourself honestly across the 7 life categories (Spiritual, Spouse, Family, Business, Financial, Personal, Physical). 1 - 10 for each 3️⃣ The Target: Write 1 to 3 specific goals that directly address your lowest-rated categories. Not 3 for each, 3 total 4️⃣ The Tactics: List the exact, actionable steps you are going to execute over the next 12 weeks to hit those goals. Break it down to the daily/weekly commits. Use the templates from the website for examples We're here to engineer productivity. Let's go to work! 🛠️🌊
