It was great to attend the Meadowlark Park Community Association AGM tonight. I love their community tagline, β€œSmall But Mighty”. The incredible turnout by the community is proof of that! Thank you to the past and new board members who volunteer their time and energy to make the community as great as it is.

Great news for Calgary community associations today. Council unanimously passed my Notice of Motion focused on exploring new ways to support community association infrastructure, sustainability, and fundraising opportunities. A major component of the motion is looking at options that could help community associations access donations and charitable tax receipt mechanisms more effectively. This has the potential to unlock new fundraising opportunities for facility upgrades, capital projects, community programming, and neighbourhood improvements. Community associations provide incredible value to Calgary through the work of dedicated volunteers, and this motion is about helping give them additional tools and resources to continue serving residents for years to come. I appreciate the unanimous support from Council on this important initiative.

It was a pleasure to join residents today in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Lakeview Community Association. For six decades, the association has helped bring neighbours together and made Lakeview such a special community. Thank you to all the volunteers and residents who have contributed over the years. Thank you as well to Mayor Jeromy Farkas for attending today’s celebration. Here’s to many more years of community spirit in Lakeview!

Had the chance to tour the Calgary Rowing Club at the Glenmore Reservoir yesterday. 🌊🚣 It was definitely a windy day, but great to learn more about the programs they offer and the important role the club plays in supporting recreation, sport, and community in Calgary. Very cool to see everything they do both on and off the water.

Today, the Ward 11 team got a firsthand look at the incredible work Calgary firefighters do every day at Fire Ops 101. πŸš’ Fire Ops 101 gives you a real appreciation for the skill, teamwork, and training behind every emergency response. Even in a controlled environment, you quickly see how demanding the work is - and why proper staffing, equipment, and support are so important to public safety. Huge thanks to Calgary Fire for an unforgettable team-building day and for everything you do to keep our city safe.
