The referee gave Saliba a yellow card for a challenge on Evanilson. The VAR deemed that Saliba denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and recommended an on-field review. The referee then upgraded the yellow to a red card.

Officials tonight in the @LCFC v @SunderlandAFC game were shocking. Lino knew it was a foul in the box and defender didn’t get the ball, but wouldn’t flag a penalty… why? You could see he didn’t think it was a corner, meaning he knew the player was taken out #lcfcvsfc #corrupt

The FA & @premierleague need to sort #VAR out. Camera angles used don’t give a good indication of the line. Also player offside by the hand, (which he can’t use in play) v’s a shoulder, not the head who the defender can use. #Corruption #fixed #footballfail
