Parents, teachers, politicians, businesses, and advocacy groups all are increasingly pushing back against the value of the standardized annual assessments. Which should prompt a fair question: who exactly is the customer for these assessments? academics?

Understanding parents and teachers DOES NOT mean we oppose testing. Strawman-ing is not the best way to argue except on Twitter. Serious researchers know this.
Just like we should listed to MAHA moms on vaccines? Pandering is not courage, Robert. Boosting test scores boosts long-term student outcomes. It's not everything but it matters. I hope you & @colynritter24 keep that in mind as you join the unions to celebrate "soft skills."

Absolutely right @marcportermagee. We just are reporting the results, not debating whether its a good or bad thing..
Isn’t that just the results of their poll? It doesn’t seem like they are editorializing.

Hey Mike, maybe you should listen more to parents and teachers, the people who are in schools and use schools, rather than the echo chamber of bygone reformers. Also @marcportermagee is correct: we aren't editorializing. Jeez.

Congratulations to @kayiveyforgov and the state legislature for increasing the funding for the CHOOSE Act. There was a 33% jump in applications and the legislature funded them all. @edchoice @USDoEOfficial @EDSecMcMahon @alabamapolicy @nathan_w_san

My colleagues @jmkristof and @spendergrass4 have done the careful work of investigating misspending in the Arizona ESA program. (link to study below) The nut graf:

From the most comprehensive AZ ESA spending study to date: 99% of ESA spending is proper educational purposes. Partisan activists desperate for clicks have misleading headlines…the 100,000 AZ families using ESAs have the facts on their side. edchoice.org/2026-is-arizona…

.@edchoice just released a report on Arizona's ESA program transactions. Here is the key finding: Only 1-2% of all ESA spending is unallowable, and only about 9% of all transactions are for unallowable items. The sky isn't falling. edchoice.org/2026-is-arizona… @DeAngelisCorey @JasonBedrick @matthewladner @ClarkRimsza @GoldwaterInst

My op-ed in the @TheOklahoman_ on the Parental Choice Tax Credit. "Raising the funding cap and expanding flexibility within the Parental Choice Tax Credit won’t just help families today. It will help shape the Oklahoma our children inherit tomorrow." oklahoman.com/story/opinion/…

Contrary to the fake media narrative, Arizona’s ESA is already one of the most transparent and accountable program in any policy area nationwide. And contrary to AFC, we don’t need to break the program for ESA parents to “fix” it politically.
Disappointed to see AFC @SchoolChoiceNow pushing a ballot initiative that would impose unnecessary and harmful regulations on Arizona’s popular Empowerment Scholarship Accounts Program, especially without having consulted with the local school choice coalition first. ESA families and school choice supporters should decline to sign! federationforchildren.org/af…

New data on AZ ESA from @edchoice. We looked at all 1.4 million marketplace transactions and found "based on our preliminary research and the Arizona Department of Education’s study, the ESA withstands more scrutiny than many public programs." informedchoice1996.substack.…

Totally agree. It would be refreshing if once, just once, people who don't like choice use the actual data about ESA in the same way they say the "data" supports everything else they stand for.
Glad to see that @azedschools has corrected the record. Hey Channel @12News, will you now retract the fake news that @CraigHarrisNews has been spewing?

Craig, the research is NOT skewed. @edchoice looked at ALL 1.1 million transactions like you and it looks like we found the same thing as ADE.... INDEPENDENTLY. #researchersknow. #datamatters @mathewladner @ClarkRimsza @JasonBedrick @GoldwaterInst @DeAngelisCorey
The ADE released an audit today by one of its employees who says 2 percent of purchases are unallowed. However, the research is largely skewed, has a miniscule sample and underrepresents two key areas where @12news found parents bought diamond rings, appliances & lingerie.
