A very powerful message, and I'm sure I'm not the only person with a disability this resonates with. Definitely a video everyone should watch and share.

A powerful and poignant piece from @myblurredworld! Being visually impaired myself, this resonates. While Elin relates her experience, it'll be impactful for people with, and without disabilities. Belonging as a vision impaired person in a visual world myblurredworld.com/2024/03/1…

FYI, you may have seen this post earlier, but somehow I accidentally deleted it. Not sure what happened there. So appologies @myblurredworld.

This one popped up today: Is sign language different from subtitles. Yes. The key word is language. Subtitles capture the words. Sign Language conveys language. With semantics, intonation, linguistics.. and so much more. Together, they empower inclusivity. 🤟

Don’t get defensive when disabled people tell you something you've created, or your business, or an activity you're planning isn’t accessible. We’re not telling you this as a personal attack. It's because we want to access it but can’t, and you're the one who can change that.

Very proud of this research on how viewing angle (side, front, etc) impacts BSL comprehension. Excellent work by the whole team (@BodoWinter, Diar Abdlkarim) but most of the credit needs to go to the fabulous @freya_watkins_ Open access link: nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

I haven't kept up with Braille displays and technology, but incredibly useful and such a life saver when I used them in school.
Technology has rapidly evolved since the invention of #Braille 200 years ago, and we now live in a digital world. Ever wondered what types of innovative braille technology is used by students who are #Blind or #VisuallyImpaired? ⬇️

I would hazzard a guess a significant amount of people hold the same feelings about having a disability in the UK and the government support on offer. Britain is ‘incredibly scary for disabled people’, says Hannah Cockroft theguardian.com/sport/2024/j…

Just found a video of @JuanAlcazar learning Braille. Really interesting story. It brought to mine my own journey. BUt while I don't use Braille nearly as much as I used to, and have undoubtedly forgotten too much, it's still an enormously valluable skill. youtube.com/watch?v=ZQDQ8irW…

Have you ever wondered how #Braille works? 👉 A #BrailleCell consists of 6 numbered dots arranged in 2 columns & 3 rows. 👉 A capital letter has a dot 6 before the letter. 👉 Numbers have a special number sign character in front. The number sign is dot 3, 4, 5 and 6.

People ask me, "Do you prefer to be referred to as a disabled person or a person with a #disability?" People close to me refer to me as Dave.

Just helped a visually impaired person I’ve never met identify herbs and spices for cooking via the @BeMyEyes app. What an incredible use of technology. Chinese 5 spices, soy sauce, crushed celery and Worcestershire. I wonder what bro cooking up 🤔
