I think this is a central point. Jews already know there is antisemitism. But it’s much safer politically to go to a synagogue and talk vaguely about stopping hate than it is to speak to the public — in specific, precise terms — about how and why that hate proliferates
First, the location was wrong. This belonged on the floor of the House of Commons. Carney emphasized that he was speaking to all Canadians, but that best happens in the House where Canadians are represented and where MPs from all ridings and all parties are present.
