Good evening everybody.
Today, me and my partners (consisting of my beloved scope and my trusted balcony) are revealing our newly developed,
next-generation astrophotography image…
With 2-times better pixel quality, and 4-times better eye-pleasing…
May I present to you… the ELEPHANT’S TRUNK NEBULA, or for those who count and catalogue stars, IC 1396A.
A major milestone and upgrade since our last project. Why? Read on!
Alright, jokes aside, yes, this is the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula!
For the first time ever I used two filters, one narrowband and one broadband filter.
This allowed me to emphasize the nebula’s structure without losing the star colors and delicate reflections you can see on the left end of the nebula, in this small circle and around it.
Also, keep in mind that this nebula you see, is completely surrounded by a bigger nebula it sits in (IC 1396),
so ALL of the frame is nebula!
All in all, the result is magnificent.
One of my favorite images, if not my favorite, so far…
For the best viewing experience, set your phone to dark mode and turn up the brightness. Enjoy!
