That people like Carns are even in the Labour Party shouldn't still surprise me given all the evidence over the years telling me that this is exactly the voice of leading Labour MPs.
Labour MP Al Carns has, since his resignation as Armed Forces Minister, been on the radio, TV and newspapers arguing for more defence spending at the cost of welfare. This morning when asked how this would be paid for he said:- “I think there are places, such as moving welfare from hand outs to hand ups" Describing welfare as hand outs tells you all you need to know about right-wing Al Carns’ politics and who he wants to target. Our pensioners, the sick, disabled, and low paid workers.

🚨 Carlo Ancelotti applauds Morocco's high level of football: 🗣️"Morocco is a fantastic football nation. The quality of football they play is better than what you see from many European countries today. They are organized, technically gifted, and compete with great intelligence. People should stop underestimating them because they have already shown they can challenge the best teams in the world. To be honest, Brazil were fortunate to come away with a draw. Morocco played with courage, discipline, and proved once again that they belong among the strongest teams in international football."

🚨 DISGUSTING: Sky News exposes racist vigilante groups in Belfast literally acting like the Gestapo! They are stopping people of color on the streets and broadcasting it live. This horrific anti-immigrant hatred is becoming completely normalized online. Pure evil!
🚨 BREAKING: Sky News confirms a terrified mother ran hysterically into a hub after her child saw their address listed as a target for racist mobs online. Families are completely paralyzed by fear, unable to even send their children to school. Pure terror!

🚨🗣️New: Thierry Henry reacts to the Brazil, Morocco, and Netherlands press conferences, where questions in Spanish were reportedly not permitted for Hakimi, Vinícius Jr., and Frenkie de Jong: “I have covered World Cups for years, and this situation makes absolutely no sense to me. You’re telling me a World Cup co-hosted by Mexico can stop journalists from asking questions in Spanish? That’s like hosting a Formula 1 race and banning cars from using their engines. We saw it with Hakimi. We saw it with Vinícius. Now we’re hearing similar stories involving Frenkie de Jong. The players understood the questions. The journalists spoke one of the most widely spoken languages on the planet. Yet somehow the language became the problem. Gianni Infantino talks about inclusion, diversity, and bringing football to everyone. Fine. Then explain this contradiction. How can FIFA celebrate diversity in every promotional video and then create headlines because Spanish journalists are being told to switch languages at a tournament hosted by Mexico? Spanish isn’t some obscure dialect spoken by a handful of people. It’s the language of hundreds of millions across the Americas and beyond. If a journalist from Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, or anywhere else asks a question in Spanish and the player understands it, why is football creating barriers where none existed? The irony is unbelievable. FIFA keeps telling us football belongs to everyone, but this controversy has many fans asking whether some voices are more welcome than others. Maybe there’s a logistical explanation. Maybe it’s a translation issue. But perception matters. And right now the perception is terrible. Because what fans are seeing is simple: a World Cup hosted partly by a Spanish-speaking nation, players who understand Spanish, journalists who speak Spanish, and officials telling them not to use Spanish. If that’s progress, somebody needs to explain it better. Because from the outside, it looks like football’s governing body is tripping over its own message.” “FIFA wanted a celebration of diversity. Instead, they’ve handed the internet a controversy that won’t stop being discussed.”

🧐🤔YOU WANTED A WALL, TRUMP? YOU’LL HAVE ONE. Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, responded to Trump’s threats: “So you voted to build a wall. Well then, dear Americans — even if geography isn’t your strong suit, and you see America as a country rather than a continent — you should know that on the other side of that wall stand 7 billion people. And if the word ‘people’ doesn’t resonate with you, let’s call them ‘consumers.’ Those 7 billion consumers can switch from iPhone to Samsung or Huawei in less than two days. They can trade Levi’s for Zara or Massimo Dutti, and within six months replace Ford and Chevrolet with Toyota, KIA, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, Subaru, Renault, or BMW — brands that are already more popular in many places. They can cancel DirecTV. And even if they choose not to, they can stop watching Hollywood films and turn instead to higher-quality productions from Latin America or Europe — with richer storytelling and better filmmaking. Believe it or not, people can skip Disney and visit the Xcaret resort in Cancún instead — or explore destinations across Mexico, Canada, or South America. Even in Mexico, you can find better burgers than McDonald’s — with higher nutritional value. Have you ever seen pyramids in the United States? Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, and Sudan have ancient wonders — none of them in the U.S. If they were, Trump would probably have bought and resold them by now. We know Nike isn’t the only sneaker brand. There’s Adidas — and even Mexican brands like Panama. We understand economics better than you think. And we also know that when those 7 billion consumers stop buying American products, unemployment will rise, and your economy — trapped behind its own self-imposed wall — will begin to collapse to the point where you’ll be begging for help. We didn’t want to do this. But you wanted a wall? Well. You’ve got one.” Her approval rating has reached a historic level — according to a recent poll, it stands at 85%.

This is not the people's World Cup! It belongs to the rich. We need to organise to take our game back.
The referee of the USA - Paraguay match is waiting to be allowed to resume the match. This will happen when the commercial break ends in the TV broadcast. At the 2026 World Cup, special breaks were introduced during the game for "drinking water". The pretext is that it's very hot. In fact, during this time, viewers are shown advertisements, on which FIFA makes money. The problem is that there are too many ads and they are starting to interfere with football.

My England v Croatia ticket was £199, chatting to some American guys at the moment and they think I must have won the ticket on some sort of poverty raffle because they can't wrap their head around how "cheap" it is. One guy paid $1500 for the very last row, top of the stadium for a college game. Surely this isn't supply and demand, it's saying "I can, you can't"? And of we're not careful, coming to a Premier League ground near you....

A FIFA World Cup host country must guarantee two fundamental principles: the safety of the country — and the unrestricted entry of all qualified teams, officials and referees. The case of referee Omar Artan from Somalia is against one of these obligations. FIFA must never compromise the universality of football. #Fifa #Somalia #GianniInfantino #CAF #OmarAtan #DonaldTrump
