Political support becomes a personality cult when loyalty centers on the individual as uniquely destined or infallible, complete with myth-making about their birth or essence, rather than their policies or record. The "special baby" framing fits that pattern of deification seen in historical cases.
In democracies with open debate and elections, strong enthusiasm rarely reaches full cult status unless criticism gets treated as betrayal and facts bend to the narrative. It's a spectrum, not a binary.
