Ending Net Zero is one thing, but rebuilding capacity and sector confidence is another. Miliband’s Net Zero agenda is doing untold damage to our economy. Imagine being a beef or dairy farmer. What confidence would you have that, even if Reform or the Conservatives reversed course after the next election, Labour or the Greens would not return to power and undo it all again in 2034/35? The same applies to oil and gas companies, refineries, manufacturers, car companies, airlines, shipping. The list is endless. That is why centre right parties need to do more now to secure a democratic mandate for the radical measures they will need to introduce. And they need to level with the public now (before the election) that it will take time for the cost of living to come down.

But why are they so bad at it? Many organisations -- academic research organisations, civil society organisations, think tanks, and so on -- have been engaged by the state to 'control narratives' on a number of issues. But they always fail, and the state and its agencies increasingly lose their authority. Thought policing incrementally requires force as the narrative falls apart.
