University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson on player development and helping basketball players get better: "We work on all the mundane things. The monotonous things. And we tell them, 'Don't get bored with getting better.' That's important. A lot of guys look at things and those little things become big things. "I notice how people get excited about someone's potential. But you know potential is mostly a prediction. That's all it is. A prediction. Potential tells you what someone might become. But without the daily grind and the habits — the habits will tell you what they're becoming every day. "Once they get those habits and they learn from them and then the daily grind, every day working on those habits, then eventually they will become a habit. If something happens once, it might be an accident. If it happens twice, it could be a coincidence. But if it happens three or more times, it becomes a habit. "And a Coach's job this time of year is to create winning habits."

Deion Sanders said, "I want to see you practice. Because how you practice is who you are." Greatness comes from what you do consistently. It's built in the quiet moments - when nobody's watching. It means preparation, consistency, and hard work.

Kelvin Sampson doesn’t mention the word talent once here. He talks about attitude, effort, body language, and consistency. Because those are the habits that win. This clip is a masterclass in what really matters. (@ChrisYBaldwin)

Marcus Freeman shares a message on focus and why the future is a distraction. "You waste time daydreaming about an uncertain future. Who cares." "Stop wasting time on things that don't matter. The future's uncertain so focus on being the best version of you today. That's all that matters." No one wins tomorrow. They win today - one rep, one habit at a time. "Focus on being the best version of you and the rest will take care of itself." Focus on giving your best and what you can control. Because anything else is going to be a distraction. (🎥 @tbhorka)

Negativity spreads, so does positivity. Ego spreads, so does humility. Doubt spreads, so does belief. Fear spreads, so does hope. Complacency spreads, so does commitment. Leadership is contagious. Own the way you show up. Own your impact.

Mental toughness is not the absence of doubt. It is the ability to recover from doubt quickly. 🎾 Fear, worry, and anxiety are part of being human. Even @DjokerNole and all of the best performers in the world experience them. The difference is not that they avoid negative thoughts, but that they have trained themselves to return to the mindset that serves them and their mission. Mental toughness is a skill. Like any skill, it improves with repetition. You cannot control which thoughts enter your mind, but you can train how quickly you return to what matters. The goal is not to never get knocked off course. The goal is to shorten the time it takes to get back on track.

Everybody wants buckets. Nobody wants stops. That’s the problem. You wanna eat on offense? Then you better invest on defense. Because the game sees everything. It knows when you’re coasting. It knows when you’re half in. And it doesn’t reward that. You can’t cheat the game.

You’re talented… but you’re quiet. And that’s the problem. No voice = no leadership No sound = no power No energy = no impact Everybody wants to be “nice” Everybody wants to “do their thing” That’s not how teams win. Teams talk. Teams connect. Teams bring ENERGY every rep.

Geno Auriemma shares how he explains success to his players and why showing up isn't enough. "If you go to class and you do average work, you're gonna get a C. That's why it's called average." "If you want a B, you have to do more work. If you want an A, you have to do even more work and you have to give up stuff." You get what you earn in life. "You have to sacrifice. Maybe you can't do all the things that everybody else does." It means if you want more then you have to be willing to do more. "If you're just happy getting Bs all your life, there's nothing wrong with that either. But you're never gonna get the satisfaction of what it feels like to get an A." Then he connected it to basketball: "If you just wanna be average, then you do average work. If you wanna be a little bit above average then you do a little more work." "If you wanna get As in basketball, then you gotta do stuff that other people aren't willing to do - especially if you have the talent like we do. We have talent." It means bring a mindset of excellence to everything that you do. Excellence isn't the goal - it's the standard you set. Then he called out the entitlement problem: "Some of these younger guys coming out of high school, man, they wanna show up and go, 'I'm here. Where's my 3.7?'" "Like my father used to say, 'I got your 3.7 right here.'" Showing up doesn't earn you anything. Doing the work does. You get the grade you earn - in school, in basketball, and in life. It's easy to be average...successful people look to compete in everything they do. (🎥UCTV Sports )
