The fireplaces are among the most popular attractions of the Villa Della Torre in Fumane, Italy. This demon-form fireplace is known as the “hellmouth” and was designed by Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli, who collaborated with Giulio Romano on the design of the villa, c1550.
ALT A group of ten men and women in colourful hats, coats and scarves are gathered together in the Lion Room of Ron's Place. The walls and ceiling are painted with ornate colourful murals featuring black, red and gold and friezes. A large sculpted concrete fireplace in the form of a lion protrudes from the wall on the right and there is a faded patterned red rug on the wooden floor. WACCLT trustee Martin Wallace (in orange hat) stands next to the lion and heritage architect Bernadette Bone (far left) are pictured with the HEAC team.
Today is Blue Monday (not named after the legendary New Order song), it is referred to as the “saddest” day of the year. Head to our Patreon for our free article on Blue Monday and the positive effect of art!
