1/4: A couple of days after the US election, feeling very despondent, I went down to my local foreshore to try to cheer myself up. And I had a curious pair of finds... the first was this George III copper farthing - can you see the date of 1773?

I read yesterday that all the Curzon cinemas have been sold off. Many of them are architectural gems, all of them are cultural beacons. I’d say there will be more demolition applications coming our way. Sad.

Just had to call 999 on behalf of someone who’d had their phone stolen in Regents Park. The met police officer who answered couldn’t have been more helpful and empathetic. An excellent sign that law and order is getting back on track. @RNBlake

A good crowd last night at the Spanish launch of Glorious Summer in Sunny Books in Mojácar. I’m so lucky to live in a village with a great multilingual community and now (since the spring) a great bookshop. Please visit if you are passing. We must support local bookshops.
