This! You don't pay 9k for us to teach in person. We used to do that when fees were 3k a year (and before, 0k a year).
You pay 9k because your govmt took away funding, and because Higher Ed has become completely marketised. That rot goes deep and isn't new.

As we enter into lockdown 3.0 I urge UKRI to revisit this decision. Our PhD students deserve better. Our current circumstances are clearly a valid reason for an extension. Researchers cannot be asked to compromise or change their projects because this pandemic has stolen time.
