Having wrote the book, then the play about how much @bishopafc helped United after Munich, I was honoured today to receive this lovely momento of the book and that play

Well Gary its the headline they need to alter. Is it best of that day, week, year? OR best of all time ? My book went back to 1878 covering teams from five eras, then my best 11 had seen over 70 years. Do they know who Billy Meredith was?!.
Best ever MUFC 11… unbelievable. I can’t imagine how long-standing Utd fans feel about this. My grandad would’ve been livid that Duncan Edwards, Denis Law & George Best are missing. What about Cantona too. Thoughts @BPete1970 @WayneSBarton @RoyMBE

Pilky was on United's short list after Munich but Bob Lord would not sell.

A great tribute Josh for an often forgotten Busby Babe . If people look at the impact he made whenever called upon, especially vital goals, they will see that impact. Certainly not a shrinking violet but a player who should be remembered.Get that book finished!

Back in 2019 I put together a documentary on Webster, where I spoke to former teammates, friends and his family. What I uncovered was just how special he was, and an important reminder that February 6, 1958 should always be remembered. Here it is - m.youtube.com/watch?v=L0k_iu…

From 1955 to watching all 8 who died & please don't forget Johnny Berry & Jackie Blanchflower whose injuries cost the rest of their career, play at Old Trafford for the last time on 25th Jan or 1st Feb, to writing books on them and last year speaking at the memorial NEVER forget.

Undoubtedly, won first 5 FA Youth Cups and were favourites for a 6th. Lost in semi because,Gaskell, Dawson and Pearson needed for first team duty.

At that time did we have the best young players in the country at Man Utd Roy? The reputation of bringing youth players through must have helped get the best young players knowing they would get a chance.

Mark Pearson certainly included with those two. He had been with the team in London for the Arsenal game as a 17 year old non playing 12th man. Imagine impact on him.

My Dad always speaks of the impact on youth players like Alex Dawson and Ronnie Cope thrust in to the first team before they were ready. It’s another “what if” but the crash interrupted a production line of fine talent which could have served United and England well into the 70’s

1958 was definetely their time. 1962 in Chile was a big problem speaking to players who went.Indeed, up to run up England were in great form but the conditions were very poor affected morale.
Replying to @RoyMBE
Had he not been involved in the Munich crash, Duncan would have blossomed into the greatest defensive midfielder in history (he was already pretty much there). In turn, England would have been hot favourites for the World Cup in 1962 & most definitely in 1966 with home advantage.

England's big chance was 1958.The finals bring played in Sweden, United min of 3 probably 5 or so in squad and playing at highest level in Europe. 1962 was always very difficult in Chile players there spoke of terrible conditions. Never saw how Moore & Edwards would link really.
Replying to @RoyMBE
Duncan and Bobby Moore playing alongside - England would have cleaned up in 1962 and 1966 without a doubt

When 68 years after you have died people, many, many people around the world want to know about you that says it all really. IF he had lived, a future United captain, a future England captain. In 1966 Duncan would have been 29, would Bobby Moore have even played for England?
Day 10 and the final day is dedicated to the incomparable Duncan Edwards - he made his 1st team debut v Cardiff in April 1953 at just 16 years old & is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time #mufc #munichairdisaster

Most of those names, if not all mentioned in the book as it is split into five eras, with a team picked from each, ending with best eleven from 1954.
