The Queen is wearing King Charles III’s Family Order for the first time at this evening’s state banquet. The portrait by Elizabeth Meek - painted in oil on polymin - is based on a Hugo Burnand photograph taken in 2023. It is mounted in a diamond-set white and yellow gold frame.

QEII’s ruby/diamond tiara was made in the 1970s from gems originating from the Nizam of Hyderabad tiara, given to her as wedding gift. It matched her red velvet evening dress by Fiona Clare, worn with QEII’s ruby and diamond necklace and matching earrings from her own collection

These centre pieces, crafted out of sugar, represent the Hibiscus Syriacus, the national flower of the Republic of Korea, and will be presented alongside petit fours.

14 months has passed since Accession yet there is still no sign of new Royal Family Order. Is it really going to happen though, at some point? Another decline if it’s been abolished.
