Today marks five years since the Islamophobic terrorist attack that took the lives of the Afzaal family in London, Ontario. This horrific act of hatred shook our country and devastated the entire Muslim community.
We remember Salman, Madiha, Yumnah, and Talat Afzaal. We continue to hold their loved ones in our hearts, including the young boy of the family who survived and is now left to carry this unimaginable loss.
This tragic loss remains a painful reminder that Islamophobia has no place in Canada. As we honour the memory of the Afzaal family, we recommit ourselves to building a country where everyone can live in safety, dignity, and belonging.
