As a human, you’ll have produced 11,030kgs of poop in your entire lifetime if you live up to 76. Your car produces fumes, you use factory-produced household items & speak nonsense on twitter. Your effect on the environment is far worse than a pigeon’s. We should stop feeding you.
A 400-gram pigeon produces around 11 kilograms of droppings in its lifetime. These droppings dry up, turn into dust, and mix with the air. When we breathe that air, the dust can reach our lungs and cause infections like pneumonia, bronchitis, and asthma.
In Singapore, feeding pigeons can cost you a $500 fine. Their droppings are also acidic, which means they can damage cars, air conditioner units, buildings, and monuments.
But when the pigeon feeding centers (kabootarkhanas) in Dadar, Mumbai were shut down, some people still came out to protest and now Peta is doing such stupid campaigns.
