🗓️ UFL 2027 Schedule Proposal 🤔Player-First. Fan-Focused. NFL-Aligned.
With the 2026 season wrapped up, here’s what I think would make a perfect 2027 schedule.
•Jan 4-17: Admin period (Admin setup, coaches report to HQ, 3x regional allocation picks, rookie draft, ETC.
•Jan 18 – Feb 25: League-wide Training Camp (phased practices, media days, etc) 35 days total.
•Week 1: Feb 26–28
•Week 2: March 5–7
•Week 3: March 12–14
•Week 4: March 19–21
•League Universal Bye: March 25 – April 4th – Rest, recovery, and major marketing push. March Madness regionals start March 25th. Final Four is in Detroit.
@RepoleStable Imagine announcing Michigan Panthers 2028 return at the 2027 Final Four in Detroit with
@StJohnsBBall possibly playing in it!? Send UFL ticket reps and players out to their colleges NCAAB games to cross-promote the UFL that week. Send ticket reps and players to UFL markets with baseball teams nearby for opening MLB weekend (Dallas, Houston, Tampa, DC), STH group event with UFL players?)
•Week 5: April 9–11
•Week 6: April 16–18
•Week 7: April 23–25
•Week 8: April 28–May 2 (2027 Derby classic, ring ceremony in Louisville in front of 2026 STHs)
•Week 9: May 7–9
•Week 10: May 14–16
•. May 21–23 – Semifinals
•Championship Weekend: May 28–31 Memorial Day Weekend.
This schedule strengthens the NFL talent pipeline, boosts fan engagement through smart cross-promotions, delivers higher-quality football, and establishes the UFL Championship as the signature spring sports event. It’s a win for players, fans, broadcasters, sponsors, and the league’s long-term growth. As the league grows, you can shorten the bye week, and add a 3rd playoff week to make it 6 teams with 2 teams getting a bye week fairly easy, and still have an off week!
The Opportunity
Current late-March to mid-June timing creates friction for top performers transitioning to NFL OTAs/minicamps. An earlier, more strategic window gives UFL standouts recovery and showcase time during the NFL’s lighter June period before the NFL goes on break for weeks. It also helps build massive momentum with a holiday finale to promote around.
Key Benefits
For Players
•6-week camp for superior preparation and injury prevention.
•Mid-season bye for recovery.
•Structured windows for NFL workouts/negotiations in early June.
•Post-Championship timing maximizes roster opportunities during NFL’s lighter June period before the NFL go on break in mid-June.
•Visibility boosts via alumni/MLB events.
For Fans & Attendance
•Early start captures post-Super Bowl football excitement.
•April bye activations: fans, players and ticket staff at MLB openers (e.g., DC players at Nationals game), STH group outings, UFL players attending March Madness alumni games brings cross promotion.
•Memorial Day Weekend 🏆: Perfect for BBQs, family gatherings, and national viewing parties — instant tradition.
•Stronger second-half momentum after bye.
For the League & Partners
•Higher-quality product from extended camp bye.
•Marketing wins during sports lull (cross-promos with NBA/MLB opening weekend/March Madness).
•TV-friendly: Avoids peak March Madness overlap; holiday anchor drives ratings.
•Commercial upside: Ticket/merch spikes, sponsorships, and long-term broadcast value.
•Weather: Late Feb/March manageable with flexible scheduling and southern games and dome priority.
