This is for all arts orgs trying to rearrange their seating plans to be Covid-safe. PEOPLE DO NOT COME IN PAIRS. If the only single seats you offer are tucked into the corners of your auditorium, I’m fucking judging you. Even after making allowances for the position you’re in.

One of the screening questions for alcohol addiction is: do you ever get annoyed when someone’s questions your alcohol usage. I think Westminster has collectively triggered this warning and should reflect on its relationship to alcohol.

One of the most avoidable mistakes in arts PR is the temptation to dress up what is clearly bad news as the opposite. Conductor just quit? No, they've renewed their contract for one year! Burned your season to the ground? No, the ashes are "a bold statement of renewal".

seeing a lot of "imagine that was your daughter/sister" etc and for once it would be nice for women to simply be treated as humans because we are human and not because you have one like it at home that you don't hate

David Cotter describes himself as an academic but appears unable to understand the difference between ‘relaxed’ and ‘relaxing’ and is unwilling to do even the most elementary research about Relaxed Concerts. But he’s complained about them anyway. 🤦🤦 thecritic.co.uk/democratisin…

I appreciate that anecdotes are not data, but when opera is done well it has the exact opposite effect on me! (My trip to this particular run of Tosca was made even harder on the blood pressure when I heard just before curtain that all the trains home were messed up…)
Did you know that research suggests that listening to classical music like opera can lower your blood pressure and boost your mood? 🎶 So, the next time you're stressed, skip the sweet tea and just let Tosca work her magic. #WNOtosca

I’ve changed my mind. David Lammy should have knee’d him in the nutsack. Twice.
David Lammy is getting a lot of vitriol today for being a hypocrite, which on the one hand I can understand. But on the other hand he’s the Foreign Secretary, what was he supposed to do? Knee him in the balls and call him a c*nt?

it’s so weird how i’ve always been into a crunchy/organic/natural lifestyle and for a very long time it was insanely blue-haired liberal coded, and now all of a sudden i’m standing in a room full of eugenics-obsessed white supremacists

So it’s very deeply acceptable to breastfeed your child and subsequently not want people to leer at your chest, and it is wildly concerning to me that anyone might not see how those things are different.
