Where do I even start?” . I get it. When I first opened Dune, I stared at the blank query editor like it was a wall of hieroglyphics. I didn't even take using Dune seriously till about 8 weeks ago..bcos it seemed really difficult to use. . For example: (Trino SQL syntax looked really complicated...and how Dune stores tables, e.g, erc721_{{chain}}.evt_transfer table for NFT mints, solana_utils.daily_balances table for token holders for sol token current holders or dune.ton_foundation.result_ton_jettons_metadata_latest_values table for validator stake amounts and performance metrics on TON, etc...). . Like fr, even before you begin building, you'll be so scared and even have a headache, even if you're an OG analyst in Web2...lol ••——•• 📝 But here’s the thing — you don’t need to know everything to start building. You just need a focused plan. Here’s the 30-day path I recommend to anyone starting: 💎 Week 1: Learn basic SQL (SELECT, WHERE, GROUP BY, JOIN) Pick one blockchain to focus on (Ethereum, Ronin, Solana, etc.) 💎 Week 2: Explore Dune’s public queries for that chain. Know how to search for other people's queries/dashboards and learn their thought process, SQL syntaxes/dune tables they used, and how they solved a major business problem with it. Try editing small parts to see how the output changes. 💎 Week 3: Build your first mini dashboard answering 1–2 simple questions (Example: My early retention analysis on Ronin Games – dune.com/defi__josh/ronin-ga… ) 💎 Week 4: Tackle a bigger question that needs multiple tables and transformations (Example: My $KTTY World analysis – dune.com/defi__josh/ktty-wor… or TVL calculation of Conduit hub bridge contracts - dune.com/defi__josh/conduit-… ) . By Day 30, you might not be an expert… but you’ll have something to show — and that’s worth more than perfect theory. Don’t overthink it. Start small, stay consistent, and build as you learn.
