Back in 2007, I co-created an interactive movie/game called The Coriovallum Conspiracy. I recovered the original code and footage and created this short 6-minute impression of what the experience looked and felt like. Curious to hear what people think!

At the time, this was commissioned as an educational experience for high-school students. Today, many of the same underlying ideas around interactive and personalized communication are reappearing in very different contexts.

A lot of what we’re building now at @LontVideo probably traces back to experiments like this. Would love feedback. Please do remember this was built nearly 20 years ago 😅

This Tesla FSD video in Amsterdam is really amazing. Bikes going the wrong way, pedestrian crossings, tram rails, bus lanes, lots of edge cases, but all handled really well. I wonder how far RDW thinks we're away from unsupervised driving! youtube.com/watch?v=vsmQrDqM…

AI video models still struggle with physical consistency and downstream interactions. Netflix just open-sourced VOID, a model for removing objects from video: remove the second car, and the collision never happens in the output video. Pretty interesting: github.com/Netflix/void-mode…

OpenAI shuts down the Sora API as well. AI video generation is pretty damn expensive. And a capacity hog. This also shows how pure GenAI is not going to be used for personalization at scale any time soon. As opposed to hybrid gen.

European VC litmus test: Delaware C-Corp. It separates funds that can underwrite global outcomes from funds that can’t (or won’t). Odd when "category-defining" is the slogan, but the global default gets a pre-diligence no.

Joining a Teams meeting is now an even better experience. Why?! @MicrosoftTeams

Smart move from Meta. Users that scroll, skip clips, give high-resolution signals. Generates a lot more data than previous methods to improve models, for the same underlying reason TikTok and Instagram feeds are so successful and addictive.
Excited to share Vibes — a new feed in the Meta AI app for short-form, AI-generated videos.

Also happens to be exactly what we do for customers. Except we treat each video as a feed where you can skip through individual video segments.

Every app can configure its own border radius now @Apple? Top to bottom this is Messages, Chrome, Acrobat.

Emergent behavior in Google Veo 3. Fascinating. Will probably lead to more controllability if packaged the right way in a UI or even API.
Google just discovered a powerful emergent capability in Veo 3 - visually annotate your instructions on the start frame, and Veo just does it for you! Instead of iterating endlessly on the perfect prompt, defining complex spatial relationships in words, you can just draw it out like you would for a human artist. This capability is begging for a proper UX, but for now just doodle away in your app of choice, and use "frames to video" in Google Flow.

One of the biggest issues with AI and translation tools: they randomly change things they shouldn’t. At @LontVideo we're adding a simple way to lock key phrases, so AI won’t rewrite or mistranslate the parts that matter. Would love your thoughts.

Really well executed, the best Veo3 video out there, clearly showing that models will definitely get there. The real challenge in the long term is going to be bringing all the data together and guardrailing generation to personalize experiences reliably.
