These missing microchipped dogs and cats are the reason why we are so passionate to get the microchip system working.
We need a microchip system that reunites missing pets with a single lookup point, linking all 25 microchip databases to one login, not 25 separate logins, available 24/7, not just from 9-5 only on weekdays, instant contact information, instead of waiting for a reply to an email or phone message!
That’s why this petition is so important for every family with a microchip pet.
These pictured microchipped dogs and cats are still missing, apart from Fern of
#FernsLaw, who was reunited after 6 years, being found as a stray dog (second row up from the bottom and 5th dog in from the left). Lots of you will be able to name some of them but now many owners are aware that time has taken away the hope of them ever being reunited with their beloved pet 💔
It was recently reported that approximately 25,000 dogs have been stolen over the last 11 years, that number represents the number of dogs who have received a Crime Reference Number from the police and that doesn’t include the pets who are victims of Theft By Finding.
We have half a microchip system in the UK, it’s no good relying on the system that doesn’t have strong and secure backup procedures in place, through lack of continuity and regulations, pet owners are taken for mugs.
Maybe one day it will improve but not today.
Thank you everyone who has signed, we tried to
