Decatur Township schools changed their start and end times to benefit students. But the impact of recent funding changes, and the potential tax measure on the ballot this November can’t be ignored. chalkbeat.org/indiana/2026/0…

Last September, I highlighted Ellen as one of the Top 5 State Education Leaders in America. jordancadams.substack.com/p/… Great to see Ellen running to keep these great gains going in South Carolina!
I've never believed in coasting, and I don't intend to start now. The same energy I pour into our education mission every day is the same energy I'll bring to earning every possible vote this fall. National headwinds have put this race squarely on the radar of Democrats and their allies. That's their right. But I'm not interested in political theater. I'm interested in results. The choice before South Carolina is simple: continue building on the progress we've made together...or go back to the old ideas and failed approaches that held too many children back. I know which future I'm fighting for. mailchi.mp/ellenforeducation…

Wisconsin public schools average $18,592 per student. High school choice gets $13,371. K-8 choice gets just $10,877. If extra spending isn’t driving student success, what is? Hear @RickEsenberg break down the real state of education in our latest episode. 🎧👇

Good news: The science of reading is taking hold. Less good news: We’re not there yet. Too many teachers still rely on outdated ideas. More: fordhaminstitute.org/nationa…

The Chicago Teachers Union is demanding a massive expansion of its “sustainable community schools” model even though the data proves it is an objective failure. @CTULocal1 activists imagine these schools as community hubs with wraparound services. But we now have the numbers from the original eight high schools that adopted this model in 2018. And the results are atrocious: >Math proficiency is sitting at just 8% for 11th graders. >Reading proficiency is at 18% (compared to the 40% @ChiPubSchools average). >A shocking 71% of students are chronically absent, missing 10% or more of the year. You would expect this model to be underfunded, but the opposite is true: Spending per student at these eight schools is 15% higher than the districtwide average. Taxpayers are funding a premium price tag for a system that is failing Chicago's most vulnerable students. And as a result, parents are fleeing the system altogether. Enrollment at these specific schools has collapsed by 25% since 2018.

West York is heading in the right direction. After the @1776ProjectPac backed board majority was elected in 2023, reading and math scores improved. Good school board governance is linked to better results.
