There is a theory that this battle never really happened. Small defence on the Indian side played clever, made so much of noise that Pakistanis couldn’t muster courage to attack at night. Next morning airforce cleaned them up.
29 Years of Border
Still remains among my favorite war movies based on Battle of Longewala in 1971 War.
First Indian movie that directly named Pakistan , instead of the usual "Dushman ka Desh", or "Sarhad ke us paar".
The build up to the Battle, the ego clashes was well done, you can feel the tension build up.
The Battle scenes were well shot too, considering the technology those days. The last 15 minutes was absolute goosebumps.
Sunny Deol was brilliant as usual. Suneil Shetty showed he could act well.
Akshaye Khanna made a superb impact in only his second movie. Jackie Shroff was as reliable as ever.
Not just them, even supporting cast of Kulbhusan Kharbanda, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry did their parts well.
Annu Mallik gave one of his best scores ever "Sandeshe Aate Hain" remains an eternal favorite.
Only thing I didn't like was that Mere Dushman Mere Bhai thing in the end, but I guess JP Dutta had to do that in Bollywood.
