Behaviour charts/cards overlook a young persons development. unidentified conditions or a lack of impulse control. The young people get labelled as "naughty" or "bad" despite all our advances in neuroscience.They only serve short-term compliance & lose effectiveness quickly🧠🌱

Can we take a moment to reflect on the fact that these are toddlers who have been alive between 24 and 36 months. There’s no need for “history” or “phonics” or “handwriting” (I recently saw handwriting worksheets in a 2 year old room) what these children need is to explore and

Many years ago a wise head told Pete to write school reports imagining that parents were opening them at the end of a bad day, to be honest but kind, as you’re talking about their most precious thing. I had a great day but it’s been a tough year. This meant so much tonight.

Now, I know good teachers do this day in, day out. But just getting to witness it all for 10mins as an observer as I set up my laptop was a privilege and made me appreciate how bloody amazing good teachers are.
