It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers on other sections, and today is my last day. certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I have never been fact-checked like I’ve been fact-checked at Teen Vogue and I’ve written for almost every place you can think of
There’s a huge misconception that Teen Vogue didn’t have rigorous writing & editing processes because its news catered to young people. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. It was one of the few places I freelanced for that had in-house fact checkers and robust systems.

My teenage years are decades gone, but in 2018 Teen Vogue cited my article in this excellent piece on immigration. I checked back regularly -- to find intelligent, thoughtful reports. So their corporate masters eventually had to squash them. @TeenVogue teenvogue.com/story/nation-o…

One of the only publications that was still actually publishing meaningful political work accessible to such a wide audience… I’m sorry to hear this. 🫂

Oh no! I was actually quite impressed at how Teen Vogue (which I never would have associated with politics as a teenager) actually handled real and breaking issues much better than many of the legacy "mainstream media."

STATEMENT: (1 of 2) We strongly condemn @CondeNast's consolidation plans for Teen Vogue, a move that is clearly designed to blunt the award-winning magazine’s insightful journalism at a time when it is needed the most. ...

I’m gutted by this decision. So many excellent editors and writers impacted. My column, Disability Visibility is no more as well. Many thanks to Allegra Kirkland for giving me this amazing opportunity teenvogue.com/contributor/al…

Lots of reporting on SNAP getting the details wrong. SNAP is not set to run out of money on November 1. There’s money in the contingency fund to pay benefits. The Trump admin is illegally refusing to deliver benefits on November 1, despite having funding to pay benefits.

Another FYI If you're homeless, you don't have a kitchen. SNAP can't be used for prepared food. Convenience stores sell frozen food and have microwaves. As the law stands, EBT cards at convenience stores are a lifeline for the most poor.
