#TeamCSIR senior researcher Dr Sandy Thomalla has been selected as a first author on the world’s most influential and respected #climate policy document: the seventh assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change #IPCC7. Thomalla is a career oceanographer who currently leads the CSIR-hosted Southern Ocean Carbon-Climate Observatory (SOCCO). This morning at @icshmo2025 we had 4 talks from the SOCCO team. The presentations discussed Southern Ocean NPP trends, global bloom phenology trends, the importance of mesoscale resolving models and the importance of increasing biogeochemical complexity in models.
