Journalists are taking part in a National Media Training on Early Warning Systems, hosted by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and @SSRCS, supported by @IFRC and @RodeKruis.
Aligned with the Sendai Framework and Early Warnings for All initiative, the training strengthens risk-informed journalism, community engagement, multi-stakeholder collaboration and use of the Common Alerting Protocol.
Sessions feature SSRC, IFRC, @UNDRR_Africa and @ITUAfrica, highlighting the complementary roles of humanitarian partners in protecting communities through timely, accurate and inclusive early warning information.
SSRC is participating in the validation of South Sudan’s revised Disaster Risk Management Policy alongside the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and other partners, helping ensure community voices shape a safer and more resilient future.

💧 Water at the Heart of Climate Action
On 19 May 2026, the South Sudan Red Cross, with support from the Netherlands Red Cross, handed over two solar-powered water yards in Lomuta Boma, Narus Payam, Kapoeta East County.

With a capacity of 20,000 litres of safe water, the facilities will serve over 4,000 people in Nadapakale and Nabuya communities through sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructures

Together with @SSRCS volunteers, we provided cash assistance and essential household items to more than 8,000 people newly displaced by armed conflict in Jonglei State.

In Leer, Mayendit and Koch counties in Unity State, we have provided multipurpose cash assistance in collaboration with @SSRCS to 1,750 families recently displaced due to the conflict as well as returnees from Sudan.

A tragic plane crash at Jebel Luri, Juba, claimed all lives on board yesterday.
Our emergency response team responded swiftly, recovering and transporting the bodies with dignity.
We extend our deepest condolences to the affected families.

Today, the @SSRCS made an important milestone by signing the Tripartite Agreement with @ifrc and @ICRC for the implementation of Sevilla Agreement 2.0. This agreement is a sign of trust & mutual respect that commits the entire #RCRC family to do more together for people in need.
To continue working together to support communities affected by armed conflict & natural disasters in #SouthSudan, the #ICRC, the @ifrc, and the @SSRCS signed a Movement Coordination Agreement last week.
The agreement renews their joint commitment for the next five years. #SSoT.
Together with @SSRCS , we distributed emergency cash assistance in Panyikang County to approximately 3,000 people who fled armed conflict from Jonglei into Upper Nile State #SouthSudan.
The assistance aims to help families afford basic needs and rebuild their lives with dignity.
In 2025, together with the @SSRCS, we repaired 72 handpumps in cooperation with the SSRC, restoring access to water for over 36,000 IDPs and distributed water filters to about 6,500 households in #SouthSudan.
