Great video. In the 1980s, Steve Jobs argues that monopolies like Xerox and IBM are run by marketing people, not by product people; once you have market share, product innovation no longer generates profits Now that Apple is a monopoly, is it run by marketing people?
Apple hired John Sculley from Pepsi as CEO in 1983 because of his skills in marketing, sales, strategy, and operations.

The second talk by @ShihanShen1 on her JMP "Customer Acquisition, Rising Concentration and Productivity Growth Slowdown". She studies the impact of lower marketing costs on concentration and productivity growth, in an endogenous growth model with product market search frictions.

This is great 👍 stuff
Recruiting season for econ finance PhDs has begun. You should have a website, but not just any website. Here are some slides that I made for my students -- dropbox.com/s/ztu32remz1hi29… -- that job market candidates may find useful. What follows is a thread summary. #econtwitter. 1/N

I like the point on the tradeoff between restricting the large businesses and the benefits of scale economy/network, which adds uncertainty to the effects of this order
The Biden administration has issued an executive order to increase competition in the American economy. The order comes at the right time and is desperately needed. 1/12
