District 4 detectives are working to identify this man -- who pointed a gun at an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction working secondary security.
On April 15, 2026, the off-duty police officer, not a SLMPD officer, was alerted to a suspect waving a handgun around at the corner of 9th and Olive. The officer located the suspect and started to follow the man. The suspect pulled his weapon and pointed the firearm at the officer. The officer took cover and lost sight of the armed suspect.
The suspect is a black male, medium build, wearing an orange shirt, tan pants, brown studded belt with a large brown buckle, black boots, a red bookbag and white/silver headphones.
This person should be considered armed and dangerous.
