This is what a new “First 12” would look like, based on NCAA seed list, First Four Out, and WAB. Mid-major AQs get pushed down, and still no room for Belmont, New Mexico, Yale, etc. And Akron, South Florida, McNeese likely would’ve missed w/o autobid: si.com/college-basketball/wh…

Except first four out doesn't necessarily mean "would have been teams #69-#72 if the field was larger." It's more of a "Here are four teams we talked about but kept finding reasons not to include" list. And our fear is they'll just keep moving the goal posts away from the mids.
We don't have to guess! The committee gives us their first four out. Last year it included San Diego State, the year before Boise State, the year before Indiana State. That's one in four the last three years. So the new eight will likely on average include six P5s and 2 MMs. Hope that helps!

can't fully process the 76 team thing. feels like the total end of an era to me. cinderellas may never be the same. bracketing won't be the same. it all sucks. the ncaa sucks.

A fine theory. But with the extra eight teams, we’ll get one 30-win mid-major and 7 high-majors with a combined record 10 games above .500.
One positive from NCAA expansion to 76, as @ralphDrussoATH mentioned, hypothetical field from this last tourney would have included New Mexico, San Diego State and Tulsa. I am hopeful it gets in some of the best mid-majors who lose in their conference tourneys.

I don't care how many schools we've added to Division I over the past however many years -- literally none of them are national championship contenders. It's nonsense to use them as even one reason to expand the NCAA Tournament most clearly don't want expanded. @EyeOnCBBPodcast

It's wrong to expand the NCAA Tournament.

I 2nd everything on Kerry’s platform and would add one prong to it if I was czar: Poaching fees - if a program with a larger NIL budget gets a player from a school with a smaller budget and pays them more, the 1st school gets a % of the NIL difference between the schools as a poaching fee. This would compensate smaller schools who do a good job in recruiting and developing players to help expand their NIL pool
My four-pronged platform for CBB czar: Keep the NCAA tournament at 68 teams. Everyone gets one free transfer; ineligible until the semester break for subsequent transfers. All portal moves must happen between 4/15-4/30. NIL is uncapped, but numbers must be public info.

Follow my guy Andrew if you want the latest on the Portal
I am trying to make it in the college basketball industry. Obviously not an easy thing to do. I did this last year and am doing it again. I have put together a transfer portal doc with all the updated transfers from within Division I. It is sorted by league and team. I would love feedback on this and it will be edited as fast as possible. Everything is manually entered by me so please be patient. I have absolutely no ties to agents or schools and have no sources. Simply getting all this info from all the places you can find it and all the insiders that post it. Hopefully you all enjoy and share with everyone. Free of charge. @thecenterhub_bb docs.google.com/spreadsheets…

Michigan is a a Wagon! I don’t know that anyone can beat them but UConn will give them their best shot on Monday Congrats to Arizona on a fantastic season; both Regular Season and Tournament champs in the Big 12 and they parlayed that into a Final Four appearance!

If you think that the Selection Committee is going to put in 26 win Mid-Majors over sub .500 Power Conference teams in the expanded tournament...you are out of your mind.

What a run by the Purdue Boilermakers. Great team, just ran into the freight train that is Arizona. Specially group of players between Loyer and Smith, etc. Arizona has been my team to beat since the tournament started and they have shown no signs of slowing down
Sucks for Purdue. Would've been a nice "eff you" to the NIL and transfer portal narratives for this Boilermakers team to win a title. But they ran into a freight train.

Nebraska - Thank you for being the greatest story of the 2025-26 season! 2nd place in the Big 10, first ever tournament win, a protected seed, a Sweet 16 appearance… What an amazing year. So much to be proud of in Lincoln! Huskers will be back!

One Power 4 “Cinderella” moves on (Iowa) and another’s run comes to an end after a heck of a performance. Congrats to Texas on making a run from the First Four to the Sweet 16. Heck of an effort against Purdue, could have gone either way
