Very excited to have my next book under contract with @BakerAcademic : 'The Gift of Suffering', out likely 2029/2030. This is a theology of suffering in Paul's letters, with an eye to contemporary implications/application.
Would love prayers as I wrestle and write the next 2yrs
I recently read (and loved) Kuang's 'Katabasis'. I wrote some reflections on what it teaches us about human limitations and the pursuit of knowledge, and how that helps us think about AI: open.substack.com/pub/sydney…
Trying to do some more writing, so have started up a Substack - would love for you to subscribe if you're interested. First post reflecting on Psalm 150 here: sydneytooth.substack.com/p/b…
So many important lessons to learn from this, which in my experience still haven't been learned by many in this constituency. So thankful for the bravery of those who spoke up.
Jonathan Fletcher is guilty of indecent assault - yet it is hard to underestimate how appalling the suffering has been for the victim and his family and how inadequate the public response has been to this verdict from those who purported to care for them. anglicanfutures.org/post/fle…
From a survivor: "I am thankful for the verdict, but it grieves me that justice for many has been denied or delayed by church leaders who insisted there was ‘nothing criminal’ about Fletcher’s actions..." share.google/q5ddw2nJFRSxTCP…
I've had my comments removed and now been blocked by the Ortlund men on FB and Insta for asking questions like the attached about @daneortlund. They are systematically deleting any negative comments or questions. Not sure how this is a demonstration of transparency
I was an elder at @daneortlund's Naperville Presbyterian Church when @EKHyland was fired and testified under oath at trial. NPC has now released a statement in response to the legal ruling against it. That statement is significant in what it conspicuously omits.
Wow. Dane Ortlund’s (and NPC) statement gives the same story that they gave the judge. The judge found them to not be credible.
Was it Emily’s performance or was it illegal retaliation?
The judge ruled that it was illegal retaliation.
NEW EPISODE w/ Prof. Cor Bennema, Professor of New Testament at London School of Theology (@LSTheology) and the author of Imitation in Early Christianity: Mimesis and Religious-Ethical Formation (published by @eerdmansbooks).

This is a fair observation and I experienced my share of sexism at OH. But the wider cultural issues there are bigger than gender. Men and women suffered bullying while I was there. Fwiw having that particular person on LT made things worse in my experience.
It’s also terribly sad that there’s only one woman on the @OakHillLondon Leadership Team and only one woman on the Teaching Faculty. Why? Is this a deliberate policy? There’s no shortage of gifted female Christian leaders, nor of gifted female academics in relevant fields.
