Awards abound in the physics department. Dr. Eliza Morris is the recipient of this year's NSM Outstanding Faculty Award for University Service, and Dr. Rodolfo Barniol-Duran recieved the NSM Outstanding Faculty Award for Community Service.

We just learned that our NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Education and Human Resources (IUSE:EHR) grant was funded! Over the next 3 years, we will be implementing and comparing three different active learning formats in lower-division undergraduate physics courses.

Our campus Course Redesign Grant is funded for all of next year! The grant will fund Eliza, Mikkel, and Dr. Bita Rivas from @sacstate's Counselor Education program to implement and assess the Integrated Peer Leadership Program in scaled-up sections of our intro physics classes.

Our technician, Tom Scarry snapped this first, quick, image from our 8-inch telescope at the new Sac State Observatory. We are hoping to have the observatory fully operational this fall for classes and public viewings.

More wonderful news: Eliza is a recipient of the @sacstate Spring 2021 Exceptional Levels of Service to Students Award! The project, "Enhancing Student Support Architecture in Online Classes", aims to generalize our integrated Physics 11A format and extend it to online learning.
