At the Women in Energy session, Deputy Minister of Electricity & Energy, Ms
@SamGrahamMare delivered a stirring opening address.
She said that:
💬 “Women are not just talking about change, but doing it as well. The country’s energy pathway is being re-written, and importantly by women. Solar, wind and battery are technologies being implemented, and in doing this we are also capacitating women. We are not changing the power to the grid, but also who changes it. Together, women and youth can accelerate a just, sustainable, and inclusive energy future. This is our moment to step forward, to lead boldly, and to create the change we want to see. Women’s full participation is not optional; it is essential.”
Ms Maré challenged everyone in the room to use the space wisely — to connect, create meaningful partnerships, mentor, learn, and lead.
She emphasised that we need to turn the ideas shared in the session into actions that ripple far beyond the room. Commit to a future where women are not just part of the conversation, but the drivers of progress, innovation, and impact.
