Leaders need to be into the morale building business. It’s not as much about time off and cookies, although they’re super helpful. It’s about making people feel valued & part of something greater than themselves. Leaders literally control this power. And it produces results.

In 1975, Bill Russell declined to attend his own Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The mystery of WHY would linger for the next 41 years.
I wrote about the answer in "The Captain Class" (see below). This is one of the greatest leadership lessons I have ever encountered.
