The community asked, and @JEnvPsych delivered! This new editorial confirms that the journal is now open to pure qualitative research once more. This is a great decision for inclusive, novel, and interdisciplinary research in environmental psychology. doi.org/10.1016/j.jenvp.2024…
We hear responses will be coming soon on this very important issue about #qualitative research in environmental psychology. Fingers crossed we can effect change to keep our field’s main journal open to diversity of thought and knowledge production @JEnvPsych

Extremely gratified that @JEnvPsych have reversed their decision on qualitative research and will be accepting purely qualitative submissions once again! This is a huge win for the field, and great to see that the editors were so open to feedback from the community @iapsQual

I’m stuck at home with COVID, so I had the distinct misfortune of watching Donald Trump’s speech to the RNC. What the hell was he talking about?

Thanks for sharing Cameron! It's been really exciting to see the surge of support that qualitative environmental psychology has received over the last year. Hopefully our paper can add to the debate around qualitative methods, and support the work being done by @iapsQual et al.

Important discussion at @JEnvPsych started by @el_ratcliffe and colleagues! Methodological pluralism has the potential for diversifying and advancing the field.
Our Letter to the Editors of @JEnvPsych about qualitative research is now accepted and online here: doi.org/10.1016/j.jenvp.2023…. We understand the Editorial Board will be invited to respond and continue the conversation. Please continue to share and discuss! 🙌

Hot off the press! In their review, Sam Lloyd & Robert Gifford write that "environmental psychologists have much to gain from incorporating qualitative methods". Qualitative Research and the Future of Environmental Psychology, in press at @JEnvPsych: doi.org/10.1016/j.jenvp.2024…

@T_M_Buchanan constructed the beautifully controlled texts, and led the question development and the data collection, and @James__ackland and @Sam___Lloyd led on the data analysis, and we hugely benefitted from sage advise on the project and write up from @Sander_vdLinden

Joined the @divestuvic protest with the lab today; did our own little pilot test on motivating collective action. Conclusion: what motivated us most were the people around us! #environmentalpsychology #socialidentity

Just had a lab discussion about the drivers of collective action after attending a march to @divestuvic - loads of interesting research already out there but I think there's a lot of important work still to be done! #environmentalpsychology 🐉

Do you remember the famous 97% study - that 97% of climate science supported the consensus on human-caused climate change? Well we have just published an update for 2012-2021 papers in the same journal, Environmental Research Letters. The figure is now... drumroll please...99.9%!

What a great idea, can't believe we haven't done this before! Hopefully this will be a new way to generate collaboration within the field... Maybe we should create an interdisciplinary version too 🤔

When we plant trees with carbon uptake or forest restoration as a goal, we don't try to maximize the number of trees. We try to maximize long-term carbon uptake, and this might actually mean planting fewer trees up front besjournals.onlinelibrary.wi…

What to do instead? There are lots of organizations in the world working to improve land management in local contexts in ways that lead to win-win outcomes. More carbon, more biodiversity, and more human well-being. Oftentimes the key interventions aren't even biophysical

Why do Jane Goodall or Marc Benioff think that the world needs a #TrillionTrees? It's a weird story about made up figures, an inspiring German, a flawed study, and a media frenzy. It all begins in 2013, with a boy’s speech in the UN assembly hall (1/15) youtube.com/watch?v=tGLtkbae…

In the last week I've started to receive inquiries from people running tree planting programs wanting my help. I am suggesting that they shut down their programs. Here I will explain why:
