Yorkshire leading the way on food 💡
Today, a new film and report from the second ‘What Works Here Inquiry’ in 📍York and North Yorkshire is out, coordinated by @local_food and @FixOurFoodteam. Citizens heard from leaders across the food system, including Mayor David Skaith and found:
⚡ Strong devolved and joined-up leadership on food is having a real and positive impact on people living and working in Yorkshire
🌱 Local farm businesses are struggling to compete in a system dominated by multinational corporations – but local procurement could be a way forward
🎒 Great work is already happening in the region, including the auto-enrolment of children for #freeschoolmeals, which citizens think could be rolled out elsewhere
These findings will help inform the new Food Strategy, with citizens meeting with @DefraGovUK Secretary @angelaeagle next month ➡️ foodfoundation.org.uk/news/w…#foodsystems#healthyfood#yorkshire@RishiSunak@tomgordonLD@JulianSmithUK@kevinhollinrake@RachaelMaskell@lukejcr@DavidDavisMP
Them is v smart (legal types) people @mithransamuel ✔️
It’s #AMHPs that r mostly going to be expected to make this stuff work or not✔️
*U could/should a got one for a jolly day out in Manchester😉
**I am not convinced the “new” legislation will lead to the changes hoped for✔️
Important perspective here from @Sectioned_ on the @HouseofCommons select committee report from someone with real experience of community care.
It often simply doesn't exist and not because of funding problems, but because care is just cut off.
Very sobering from @HouseofCommons Health & Social Care select committee on community mental health services -
"Failure to act risks worsening outcomes, deepening inequalities, and will lead to further preventable harm and tragic loss of life."

Here’s a thing✔️
Most people who take their own life’s don’t have SMI✔️
They choose a permanent solution to a temporary problem✔️
They tend to sit with suicidal ideation for a while✔️>
*SubTweet
Graham Thorpe took his own life
It’s tragic & sad & all sorts of distressing…
But according to some SMI is not a thing✔️
But suicide is a failure of MH services…
*Make it make sense plz & thank u🤷♂️
Just acknowledging the change of emphasis and tone in some of my posts.
As you might imagine, I had less freedom whilst serving to post viewpoints about certain shortcomings, omissions or even failings or give dissenting opinions about programmes like street triage.

"Closed referral. Not engaging" 😡 When a service has offered one appointment at a location a person isn't comfortable going to, that's not the person who is not engaging #MentalHealth#SocialWork
At last! A blog about the vital need for AMHP Services to collect&engage with feedback from people who receive our services. Greg Slay’s AMHP service has co-produced one of the first LA surveys into the AMHP contribution in MHA work. More LAs to follow? the-critical-amhp.com/blog/v…

Using sweeping statements about 'overdiagnosis' risks discouraging those in need from seeking help and undermines trust between professionals & patients. Mental health is nuanced, & any oversimplification can do more harm than good. @wesstreeting, let's leave diagnoses to the experts! #MentalHealth
Wes Streeting: there is overdiagnosis of mental health conditions
I am pretty sure @wesstreeting isn’t qualified to make any such diagnosis ✔️
*He & his mates & us would be better off, if he did something about poverty, inequality & shite housing etc✔️ theguardian.com/politics/202…
First legal error -
"Where access needs to be obtained to a patient ... a warrant can be obtained from a magistrate under section 13 ... this will allow [professionals], usually accompanied by the police, to gain access."
Only the police can execute 135 warrants.
