...and if we're talking about reanimating Custom House Square, we can't ignore the water fountains. They've been broken for years.
Does anyone else feel like Custom House Square is massively underused? It’s one of Belfast’s best public spaces architecturally, but outside the occasional concert or film set it mostly sits empty. No seating. No café culture. No everyday activity. What’s frustrating is that @CommunitiesNI is the custodian of the square, not @belfastcc so it often feels disconnected from wider city centre animation efforts. Could be a brilliant civic space with tables, chairs, coffee carts, greenery and somewhere people actually want to spend time. What would you add to the square?

Inquiring minds would like to know. @gerryhughes2?
Interesting story below re sale of Castlebrook property in Manc. The big question for the owners of the area-formerly-known as TriBeCa is what they plan to do after a planning decision. Do they have the money to develop it? Or do they plan to put it on the market?

The owners of the controversial Tribeca redevelopment scheme in central Belfast have proposed a new plan which is focused on housing. Castlebrooke Investments has owned the large site next to St Anne's Cathedral since 2016 but has made little progress with it.

TL:DR: -  Castlebrooke has submitted a new pre-application planning notice proposing 1,000 new homes & two hotels. -  The Tribeca name has also been dropped. -  It will hold an in-person public consultation event on 30 June and 1 July at the Masonic Hall on Rosemary Street. 1/2

Given that Castlebrooke sold the Assembly Rooms & other bits & pieces the whole site assembly strategy already looks to be in reverse.

This won't work - it couldn't be clearer that Tribeca has run into the ground. The whole site needs to be vested and sold off again in smaller chunks.
