My journey into renewable energy in Nigeria opened my eyes to both the immense potential and the critical barriers facing the sector. 🤓 Coming from a decade of experience in the crypto and blockchain space, I began to see a clear intersection between emerging technology and the pressing need for clean energy especially in underserved markets.🔋 Over the past two years, I’ve led a solar energy infrastructure company that has reached over 500 enterprise clients, ranging from hotels and schools to hospitals. 🪝 The interest in transitioning to clean energy has been overwhelming. However, one consistent roadblock has emerged: the initial high cost. After conducting free energy audits, we found that most enterprises dropped off at the point of financial commitment it will take to fully transition.🪫 ⚡️That’s when a idea struck me: What if we could apply the same decentralized finance models that raised millions even billions for meme coins and hype projects, and redirect that power towards real-world impact, like enterprise energy transition in emerging markets? This question gave birth to Ongrid Protocol a solution rooted in both industry insight and a deep understanding of the financial gap holding back clean energy adoption. Through conversations with stakeholders across the energy and blockchain industries, one thing became clear: transparency and data are key. To connect this market to global net-zero incentives and carbon finance opportunities, we need a way to reliably track and verify clean energy data. Working alongside our hardware team led by @audrey_nzilani , from discussion to concept formulation to designing and we’ve now received the first production batch of our DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) device called EdmondX. This innovation will revolutionize how energy data is captured, verified, and integrated into the blockchain bringing trust, transparency, and scalability to clean energy projects. We’re incredibly humbled of how far we've come, and we remain committed to building out this vision.
