Also, how do you get across the idea of the cost of your investment in equipment to potential paid/unpaid clients? Carpenters' fees reflect not only their skill but the tools they bring to a job. For us they can be invisible to a client. #scicommchat

It sounds like the issues of getting paid at all, at a rate respectful of ones expertise, and on time is a big one, common to many of us but problems for which there are few clear-cut solutions. Good #SciCommChat @TheSharedScope !

Yes to this. For example, I may suggest writing up a brief that they can pass along. Or I’ll do the research and pass to a writer or something like that? I do it based on what I’m in the mood for- write, research, or edit? #SciCommChat
