today, on @NPRShortWave, I bring you: snails 🐌, worms 🪱, killifish 🐠, whales 🐳, lizards 🦎, finches 🦜, ostriches 🦤, mice 🐭 AND OF COURSE, RATS 🐀
@ScienceRegina & I talk about how rats became synonymous with research — and what a better model organism could look like
The book #ItWontAlwaysBeLikeThis was Amazing! I read it in one sitting! @MalakaGharib, it was a completely riveting & relatable story. As a fellow mixed kid with 2 non-western cultures, I felt so seen. Also, the music references = my childhood! I saw Sonic Youth 3 times in one yr
Stop me if you’ve herd this one... A company has made a meatball made of lab-grown cultured meat using the genetic sequence from the long-extinct mammoth. The meatball, meant to spark debate about cultivated meat, has not been tasted, even by its creators. apne.ws/cmEqU13

This is heart breaking! @thomasuylu, you were always there to help me grow as a host. I'm better because of you & didn't get to work with you enough! I'll miss our talks & your humor. You've done amazing work & you'll continue to create amazing work. Thank you for working with me
I will not forget you sticking up for us part-timers and temps in that last meeting! @gabrielspitzer , I'm gonna miss our gab sessions with @margaretcirino! I will be on the lookout for PNW/remote jobs too!
I’m afraid I am one of the casualties. Working w/the team @NPRShortWave for the past year has been a beautiful dream, and unfortunately now it’s time to wake up.
Please do send me your job listings/freelance opportunities. And you should keep listening to the show; I sure will.
It's taken me a few days to fully comprehend that the team I love has been torn apart. @aaronscottNPR, it's been such a comfort to have you as my host twin. You're always kind & thoughtful. I'm heartbroken but also thankful we got to live out your vision of a live event at AAAS!
Since getting hired to host @NPRShortWave w/ inimitable @emilykwong1234, I've felt like I'm living in a dream. Who gets to work w/an amazing team to interview brilliant scientists & chase curiosity every frickin' day?? But all dreams end. Half our team was laid off, incl myself.
Need something to watch this weekend?

As an avid @NPRShortWave fan, I am so, so, SO excited for today's show with guest @ScienceRegina and the amazing @JDankosky. It's going to be a great @scifri! Like, it's practically a Marvel/DC crossover happening here, people.
Hi folks! We've got another great show coming up for you. Today, @NPRShortWave's @ScienceRegina is guest co-hosting the show with our very own @JDankosky!
Regina Barber is the scientist in residence at #NPRShortWave & is a new addition to our news roundup contributors.

OK! I love this episode about doctors swallowing #LEGO heads. @margaretcirino is a genius producer! @aznfusion's hilarious!
Regret: Not talking abt 🌽! The phrase my kid & I repeat once a week (from @AndyRichter & @ConanOBrien) didn't make it.
Corn, when did I have corn? (1/2)
"This episode contains frequent and mildly graphic mentions of poop."'
@ScienceRegina provides possibly the greatest disclaimer to any Short Wave episode intro ever?
Starring: the incomparable @aznfusion and six ER doctors pooping Lego heads

In @aznfusion 's article, they talk about how the researchers were not allowed to eat corn during the study because #LEGO heads look too much like kernels!😂 (2/2)
