🛑 11,000-Year-Old Stone Plate Unearthed in Karahantepe
Archaeologists at the Neolithic site of Karahantepe in Şanlıurfa have uncovered an extraordinary 11,000-year-old stone plate, offering a rare glimpse into daily life at one of the world’s earliest known settlements. Dated to around 9000 BCE, the artifact was discovered on the floor of a room within a communal structure, divided by upright stone pillars. Experts believe the find could shed new light on food preparation, ritual practices, and social gatherings during the dawn of agriculture in Upper Mesopotamia. Karahantepe, often called Göbeklitepe’s sister site, continues to challenge our understanding of early human civilization with each excavation season.
