We travelled to Winslow with full respect, but with a real fire in our stomachs. Being labelled a mid-table side only added fuel, and the group responded with a performance full of character, discipline and quality. What we’re building is clear internally, and the players continue to show they’re fully aligned with our ambitions.
We switched to a back five, knowing Winslow would be direct and aggressive. It worked perfectly. In a physical, demanding game, we stood up brilliantly. Trent was immense, save after save, commanding his area and dealing with everything thrown at him. He set the tone early and gave the team real belief, before Courtney opened the scoring with a composed finish.
Winslow applied pressure, but we stayed strong and doubled the lead through a superb set-piece, Sam Denham rising highest to head home and silence the crowd.
A scrappy goal gave Winslow hope with 20 minutes left, but the response was spot on. Ade showed strength and composure to restore the two-goal cushion with a clinical finish. A late Winslow goal made it tense, but with the last meeting in mind, the boys dug deep and saw it out.
MOTM: Trent Carter-Rogers…and it genuinely could have gone to the whole squad. But Trent was outstanding. Big saves, total control of his box and a performance that wins games.
Special mentions to Courtney Massay with two assists and a goal against his former club and Johnny Wilson, who was rock solid at the back, clearing everything and leading from the front.
A strong, disciplined performance and another big step forward for this group. 💙🩷

📣Words from the gaffer…
“Another game where we should’ve been far more comfortable but in the end had to dig in and see it out for the three points.
Aylesbury Vale sat in and made it tough to break down, but we controlled the possession and tempo for large periods. We got ourselves ahead from the spot after Reece Barratt was brought down, and Monti made no mistake putting it into the bottom corner.
With twenty minutes to go, a great ball from Monti sent Reece through and he continued his fine run of form with his fourth in four games. Fitness is still something we’re working on and we allowed them back into the game on the break, which made it a nervy finish.
We responded well though and restored our two-goal lead when Ilyas caused more problems down the right, forcing an own goal with his delivery. A late consolation for them didn’t change the outcome and we saw the game out. We’re getting fitter, building momentum and starting to see improvements week on week” 💙🩷

Arlesey Town FC 1️⃣-2️⃣ AFC Welwyn
Finally a positive finish and three points on the board.
We faced a young Arlesey side full of development players who gave us a tough game throughout. We started perfectly when a set-piece caused chaos in the box after just 3 minutes, with Reece reacting quickest to score for the second week running.
We had chances to extend the lead, with Courtney’s cross deflecting onto the post off Ilyas, but our finishing just wasn’t quite clinical enough.
After a couple of changes at half-time we started the second half well, but Arlesey grabbed a deserved equaliser after we left ourselves open at the back.
With the game heading towards a draw, our skipper had the final say. Johnny Wilson powered home a bullet header from a set-piece in the last minute to win it.
MOTM: Johnny Wilson, an immense performance from our captain who leads by example every week, and to top it off with the winner was fully deserved. 💙🩷
