So they're not closing the Great Highway at all ... the legislation requires that it be available for use by government / top officials / emergency vehicles and anyone the SFMTA boss permits. Only ordinary people are banned from using the road. And there's no park. I propose we rename this road Joel Engardio Way so commoners know who's allowed to drive on it and who isn't. @JoelEngardio
But wait, the measure says: “permanently closing it to private motor vehicles 7 days a week...It would continue to allow emergency vehicles, official government vehicles, intra-park transit shuttle buses & similar authorized vehicles to access Upper Great Highway at all times” 6/

If the UGHW Closure ballot measure passes, the Upper Great Highway will become a two-tier system. Government vehicles will be allowed, but San Franciscans’ vehicles won’t be allowed. Vote NO on the GHW Measure on 11/5. #KeepTheGreatHighwayOpen
So the permanently closed Great Highway will still be a roadway for the City to use AT ALL TIMES, just not for regular San Franciscans or the Westside people to drive to work, schools or clinics. And it’s not going to be a park. #KeepTheGreatHighwayOpen 7/

Griffith also pointed out that too many transit lines funnel into downtown San Francisco, creating a loop of commerce concentrated in The City’s northeast corridor at the expense of neighborhoods such as the Sunset, Richmond, and Bayview.
“The future is at stake, literally” when rethinking The City's public transit. That's why experts say San Francisco must think beyond its own borders, and about a system uniting all of the Bay Area. sfexaminer.com/news/transit/…

Glanz stressed that he wouldn’t alter San Francisco’s streets. That’s because the best features of the most robust cities in the world weren’t planned, he said. “A well-planned city doesn’t always necessarily translate to being a place where people want to go,” he said.

The imperfections on San Francisco’s roads are part of what gives The City personality. After all, one of San Francisco’s most famous attractions is Lombard Street, a concrete boa constrictor inside an urban jungle.

It is painful to watch this. However this is the current situation in the center of Geary Merchants Corridor. A couple of months later we expect to lose the angled parking for Bus Only Lane. Do you think it will help the small businesses at this time? youtu.be/RkQm1f1dUt4?si=skA7…
