🆘🆘 TIGER, 3 YO, MALE – IN BROOKLYN ACC 🆘🆘 - 😿 😿 😿 😿 – TBD 6/22/24 – 28 DAYS IN SHELTER TIGER was brought in as a stray, brought in by agency overnight. Has ID on collar with number, name. Owner was contacted and told staff that he surrendered the cat to the police dept. Reason for surrender is due to the client moving in with his girlfriend and Tiger does shows signs of aggression towards her, before any incident happens he chose to surrender.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 TIGER tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. In the shelter he has started to deteriorate and has started displaying distance-increasing behaviors when approached for interactions. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.🙏💔😿 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT –😱🔥🔥🔥😱 TIGER IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - a bit overwhelmed, anxious and stressed in shelter. 🆘🆘 INKY, 2 YO, MALE – IN BROOKYLN ACC 🆘🆘 - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 5/2/2024, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit - too many animals already. 😿 😿 😿 😿 – TBD 6/23/24 – ➡️2ND Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT –😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️INKY IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - a bit overwhelmed, anxious and stressed in shelter and according to staff - “not warming up.” This designation often means the cat is given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥 ➡️50 DAYS IN SHELTER INKY tolerates some attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Inky previously lived with 31 cats. He is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he does attempt to avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. A volunteer writes: We're all just figuring things out as we go and for some it's easier than others, but Inky's not really in that camp. Coming to us from a home with many other cats, adjusting to the Care Center hasn't come naturally to him. I often see him sitting at the front of his condo. Inky's adorably curious and enjoys looking out his window into Adoptions. Each time I go to say hi, however, he rushes to his den in a hurry. I know that it's not easy to make friends when the ground beneath you feels unsteady, but sometimes we just need a tiny bit of patience as we change tracks. Pets and cuddles haven't been his thing at the shelter and he's not so sure he wants to come out, but he loves snacks! He'll poke his head out like a very velvety turtle for treats. Shelter life isn't easy, but we do what we can to make it a bit smoother for everyone. For our Inky, this means a bunch of treats and a whole lot of love. If you are looking for a kitty who is figuring things out as they go, please come give this lovely guy a chance.
