Don’t miss our recent Dame Taft Movie Show episode discussing Michael Mann’s The Keep (1983).
Some consider it an overlooked classic.
Others maintain the chilly reception from the time of its release.

Watched Hell or High Water (2016) starring Jeff Bridges and the kid from the Star Trek.
Much of the dialogue is too quippy.
Like Shane Black, the screenwriter thinks he’s Henny Youngman.😖
Otherwise it’s reasonably engrossing with some effective moments.

DTMS 27: Night Moves (1975) is a "sunbaked noir" starring perpetually-angry Gene Hackman and some great actors. If you freeze-frame it you can see Melanie Griffith's clam! 🤗

Watchin’ Chisum (1970), an Andy McLaglen picture.
Billy the Kid story with big cast that includes Chris George, Andrew Prine and Richard Jaeckel who all appeared in Grizzly.
I take a swig of cactus whiskey every time a character says “Chisum”.

Friedkin wanted McQueen for Sorcerer; said the film suffered due to lack of star-power.
As much as I enjoy Scheider, he was right.
Who could’ve brought more: Elliott Gould? Kristofferson? Edward Albert Jr?
🤩🧨 🎬
Yes, it’s true.
And speaking of follow-through, you simply must watch the latest episode of the Dame Taft Movie Show in which the men discuss Outland (1981).
